Aesthetic symbols

Hearts, stars, sparkles, flowers, arrows and ready-made dividers for your bio, captions and messages. Tap a symbol to copy it — they are ordinary Unicode characters, so they paste anywhere text goes.

Symbols, not emoji

Most of these are text symbols: they take the color of the text around them, so ♡ is white on a dark profile and black on a light one. Emoji such as ❤️ carry their own color and look the same everywhere. Mix them: a text symbol reads as a quiet detail, an emoji as an accent.

How to use them in a bio

A symbol at the start of each line turns a bio into a tidy list: ✦ designer ✦ Berlin ✦ open for work. A divider between two blocks separates who you are from what you offer, and brackets such as 【 】 or ꒰ ꒱ frame a name or the call to action above your link.

Pair them with a font: the Instagram fonts page has aesthetic styles that come with the frame already around your text.

Will everyone see them?

The common symbols — hearts, stars, arrows, shapes — draw on every current phone and computer. Some combos borrow characters from rarer scripts; if a friend sees an empty box, pick a simpler one, and check your profile on a second device before you rely on a rare symbol.

Typing symbols without copying

On a Mac, Control+Command+Space opens the Character Viewer, where you can search for “heart” or “star”. On Windows, the Windows key and a period open the emoji and symbol panel. On a phone, copying from a page like this is quickest: most keyboards only offer emoji.
