Instagram bio ideas to copy and paste

Bios to copy for every kind of Instagram account — aesthetic, short, funny, creator, small business, musician, coach and more. Each one fits the 150-character limit as written, line breaks and emoji included, so you can paste it, swap in your own details and save.

Twenty-something, figuring it out in real time

Your bio is half of your profile. The other half is the page your link opens — make yours with Stick, free.

How to use it

  1. Use the menu to jump to your kind of account or a style — aesthetic, business, musician and the rest.
  2. Copy a bio and change the details that make it yours: the city, the product, the schedule.
  3. In Instagram, go to your profile, tap Edit profile, then Bio. Paste your version and tap Done.
  4. If the last line points at a link, add that link under Links on the same screen — a web address typed into the bio text does not become a link.

What a bio has to do in 150 characters

Most people reach your profile from a Reel, a tag or a comment, and decide in a few seconds whether to follow. A bio that works answers three questions for them: what this account is, what they get by following, and what to do next. Many of the bios above follow that order — the first line names the account, the middle line gives the reason, the last line points at the link.

Specific beats clever. “Sourdough in Austin, pre-order by Thursday” tells a stranger more than a row of adjectives, and it is the detail that makes them remember you when your account shows up again.

How to write an aesthetic Instagram bio

Aesthetic bios trade explanation for mood: lowercase words, short lines, soft symbols such as ✧ ☾ ✿ and room to breathe. They suit personal accounts, photographers and anyone whose grid already shows what they do. Pick one family of symbols and repeat it — a sparkle at each end of a line looks deliberate, five different symbols look random.

Keep at least one line readable as ordinary words. Letters from a font generator look striking, but screen readers spell them out one by one and search may not match them, so style a word or two rather than the whole bio.

Use the words people search for

Instagram matches what people type in search against usernames, bios, captions, hashtags and places, and its own advice is to put keywords and your location in your bio. “Wedding photographer in Denver” in plain words can be found by someone searching for exactly that; the same idea written in emoji cannot.

Your name — the bold line above the bio — is matched as well, and it has a field of its own, so it costs no bio characters. “Maya | Wedding Photographer” there leaves the bio free for the reason to follow.

Line breaks, emoji and the count

Spaces, line breaks, symbols and emoji all count toward the 150. The number beside each bio here counts it the way the Instagram character counter on this site does — every Unicode character, line breaks included — so you can see how much room is left for your own details.

Instagram keeps a line break you type into the bio, but it trims empty lines and spaces at the start of a line. If you want a gap between two parts of your bio, the line break tool fills the empty line with a character Instagram leaves alone.

End on your link

A web address typed into your bio stays plain text. Instagram lets you add up to five links in the Links section of Edit profile, and they show under your bio — which is why so many bios end with an arrow: the last line tells people the link is the next thing to tap.

If there is more than one place to send people — a shop, a booking page, a newsletter, your newest video — one page that lists them all keeps the bio short and the arrow honest.

What a link in bio page is, and what to put on yours

Rewrite it when your work changes

A bio is not set in stone. Change the middle line when you launch something, open bookings or start posting about something new, and check that the last line still matches what the link opens. A months-old “new single out now” is the quickest way to make an active account look abandoned.
