Is this a real cursive font?

Not a font file, no. It is text made of Unicode letters that are drawn as script, which is why it can be pasted anywhere, including places with no font settings.

Where can I paste cursive text?

Anywhere that accepts Unicode text: Instagram and TikTok bios and names, X posts, Discord messages, Facebook posts and most messaging apps. Usernames and handles usually refuse it, because they are limited to letters, numbers and a few symbols.

Why do some cursive letters look different from the rest?

Eleven script letters — ℬ, ℰ, ℱ, ℋ, ℐ, ℒ, ℳ, ℛ, ℯ, ℊ and ℴ — were added to Unicode earlier and live in a different block, so some fonts draw them slightly differently. The bold script set has no such gaps.

Does cursive text show up on every phone?

On current iPhones and Android phones, yes. Older devices can show empty boxes for a few rare characters, so check it on a second device if it matters.

Script or bold script?

Script is the thin, formal hand. It reads well large but thins out in the small type of a bio. Bold script is the heavier cut and holds up at small sizes, which is why it is the one most people pick for a name.

Why a few letters look different

Unicode added a handful of script letters (ℬ, ℰ, ℱ, ℋ, ℐ, ℒ, ℳ, ℛ and lowercase ℯ, ℊ, ℴ) decades before the rest of the alphabet, so those come from another block and can look slightly off next to their neighbours. The bold script set was made in one go and matches throughout.

Cursive for tattoos, logos and print

This page makes text for screens: the letters are Unicode characters drawn by whatever font the phone or app uses, so their exact shape changes from device to device. For a tattoo, a logo or anything printed, use a real script typeface instead — free ones such as Dancing Script, Great Vibes or Pacifico — so the shape stays fixed.

Cursive is decoration

Screen readers read these characters out as symbols, and search does not match them to plain letters. Use cursive for a name or a phrase, and keep the words people search for in normal text.
