Regular Facebook posts and comments have no formatting buttons. The way to get bold or italic there is a Unicode letter set: ๐—•๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฑ in sans for a clean look, ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ in serif for a classic one.

Where it works on Facebook

Posts, comments, Messenger, group posts, the bio on your profile and Page descriptions all accept styled text. Your profile name does not: Facebookโ€™s name standards reject symbols and unusual characters, and a styled name can be reset.

Where it helps

A bold first line stops the scroll in a long post; an italic line sets off a quote; small caps work for a sign-off. Style one line, not the whole post, so the rest stays easy to read.

Keep search and screen readers in mind
