How to use it

How glitch text works

Unicode has combining marks — accents meant to sit on a letter. Stacking many of them above, below and through each letter makes the text spill out of its line, which is the glitch. The letters underneath are unchanged, so it can still be read.

Pick the strength by where it goes

Light glitch stays legible in a bio or a display name. Heavy glitch runs into the lines around it, which is fun in a single message and a mess in a profile. Some apps cut or remove stacked marks, so check the result after you paste.

Rising, dripping and scratched

Rising stacks every mark above the letters, so the text seems to smoke; dripping hangs them below; scratched puts a single stroke through each letter for a damaged look that keeps to its line. The lines and marks further down are the tidy version: one clean line or mark on every letter.

Where glitch text works

Discord messages and nicknames, TikTok and Instagram bios, YouTube comments and gaming profiles all take it. Fields with a length limit usually count every mark as a character, so a heavy glitch fills a name fast — use light for names.
