How to use it
- Enter your Instagram username with or without the @, or paste the profile URL. Use the username from the profile rather than the display name shown above the bio.
- Check the encoded destination under the preview and open it once. Make sure the profile’s name and picture match the account you intended to share.
- Keep the default black-and-white design or enter two six-digit hex colors. The tool checks contrast and requires darker code modules on a lighter background before downloading.
- Choose a PNG size for a screen or image-based layout. Use SVG when your design tool or printer accepts vectors and you need to resize the artwork without blurring its edges.
- Place the image with its outer margin intact, then scan a sample at the final size. Test the finished printed piece before ordering a large batch.
Link to the profile people should follow
This page makes a profile code. A link to a post, Reel or Explore page is not the same destination, so the form asks you to supply the account instead. That distinction matters on a product tag intended to stay in use for months: a profile can present your latest posts and information without sending every customer to one older announcement.
Check the exact spelling of the username before placing the code in a design. Periods, underscores and digits can distinguish two otherwise similar names. The preview uses a clean profile URL and removes unrelated sharing parameters from a pasted link. It does not check whether the account exists, is yours or is visible to a particular visitor; opening the destination is the practical check for those details.
Make the printed invitation understandable
Add a short instruction beside the code, such as “See our latest work on Instagram”, and print the account name underneath. The sentence tells a customer what they will get by scanning, while the visible name gives them an alternative if they prefer to search. Put the code on a flat area with enough space for a phone camera to focus rather than across a fold, seam or highly reflective surface.
A good screen preview is only the first check. Export the complete card, menu or label, print a sample and scan that version in realistic light. If the code is on a window, test it from the distance where a passer-by is likely to stand. If it is on packaging, check it after the package is assembled. The tool cannot predict every printer, surface or camera combination from an image alone.
Keep edges sharp and leave breathing room
The saved QR includes a clear border around the pattern. DENSO WAVE specifies a four-module quiet zone for QR codes; cropping that space away to make the design tighter can make scanning less reliable. Leave text, logos and decorative shapes outside the image’s margin. The tool does not place a logo over the modules, so the full encoded pattern remains available to the scanner.
PNG exports use whole pixels for each module, which is why the exact width shown may differ slightly from the approximate size you select. Avoid stretching the image into a rectangle or repeatedly resizing a small PNG inside another editor. SVG keeps the pattern as shapes and is a better starting point when a print layout will be enlarged later. Both formats contain the same destination.
