How to use it
- Find your public profile URL in LinkedIn’s profile settings or copy the address of the Page you want to share. A full URL makes the destination type unambiguous.
- Paste the link. If you enter only the name at the end of the address, select Personal profile or Company Page before checking the generated destination.
- Open the destination and confirm the profile, organization or school. Short lnkd.in links need to be opened first so you can copy their full LinkedIn address.
- Choose dark modules and a light background, then save a PNG for ordinary image placement or an SVG for a scalable print layout.
- Scan the exported business card, slide or document on another device. Confirm that a person outside your signed-in session reaches the intended page.
Personal profiles and organization Pages
A personal public profile normally uses an /in/ path, while a company Page uses /company/. The parser also recognizes school and showcase paths when they appear in a full URL. The choice above the field controls only names typed without a path or domain; a complete address identifies its own kind. This prevents a company’s name from accidentally becoming a personal-profile destination.
LinkedIn’s help page explains where to find the public profile URL and notes that country-specific subdomains may appear. The tool accepts LinkedIn subdomains and builds a clean destination. Use the public profile address from LinkedIn rather than a settings, search or messaging page. A URL that works only while you are editing your own account is a poor destination for someone scanning a printed card.
Place it where a professional connection makes sense
On a business card, keep your name, role and ordinary contact details readable alongside the QR code. The code is a shortcut, not a replacement for the information someone needs to recognize you later. Add a label such as “View my LinkedIn profile” so the recipient knows where the scan will lead. For a company booth, label a Page code with the organization name rather than a speaker’s name.
In a presentation, choose a slide where the audience has time to scan. A small pattern in the corner of a fast-moving slide is difficult to use even if the file itself is perfect. Test the code from the back of the room or at an equivalent viewing distance. For a résumé PDF, keep a clickable profile link as well; readers on a computer may prefer opening it directly to using a separate phone.
Plan for the life of the printed material
The exported image contains the LinkedIn URL directly. It does not look up a newer address from a database when someone scans it. Before ordering a long run of cards, decide which profile or Page will remain the appropriate destination and save that address with the design files. If you change the profile’s custom URL or replace the Page you promote, test existing material and regenerate the artwork when needed.
The color controls help avoid combinations with insufficient contrast, but the final surface still matters. A pale pattern on colored card stock may read differently from the same colors on a bright display. Preserve the blank outer border, avoid background photographs behind the image, and make a sample with your actual paper and printer. The displayed pixel dimensions describe the downloaded image, not a universal minimum physical print size.
