4. Check x, q, accents and numbers in the actual phrase, because the available character shapes are not uniform.

Small caps are different from all caps

All caps changes ordinary lowercase letters to their full capital forms. Small caps typography uses capital-shaped letters at a smaller height. This generator approximates that appearance with available Unicode characters. It changes supported lowercase input while preserving existing uppercase letters.

That means a mixed-case name keeps its large initial, followed by smaller capital-like shapes. If you want every supported letter to look small, type the original in lowercase. If you want a title with a more pronounced first letter, preserve the capital before copying the result.

Why some letters look uneven

The copied alphabet is assembled from existing characters rather than a complete small-caps font. There is no matching small capital x in the set used here, so x stays ordinary. The q uses ǫ as a visual approximation. Their shapes may be noticeable in names that contain those letters.

Different devices may also draw parts of the set with different fallback fonts. That can change the apparent height or weight of a letter. Inspect the actual word, especially if it contains repeated x or q, instead of judging the style from a sample without those letters.

Small caps, superscript and subscript

Small caps sit around the normal writing line and imitate capital shapes. Superscript sits higher, like an exponent or raised note. Subscript sits lower, like the number in a chemical formula. These are different effects with different character sets, even though all three may look smaller than ordinary text.

Use small caps for a compact label or understated signature. Choose superscript when the raised position is the point, and keep scientific notation accurate when using subscript. The linked tools let you compare those alternatives without pretending they are interchangeable typography.

Spacing changes the feel and the length

The spaced version inserts space between the displayed characters. That can make a short label feel less cramped, but it also widens the result and consumes extra room in a constrained field. A style that fits a brief nickname may become awkward for a full sentence.

Copy both versions into a draft and compare them at the final size. If the wide version breaks the line in an unhelpful place, return to the compact one. Do not remove a meaningful part of a name just to keep an ornamental spacing effect.

Use real small caps in documents

A font with genuine small caps has carefully designed matching letters, punctuation and accents. Use that feature in a document or design editor when you need consistent professional typography. For profiles, keep an ordinary spelling available for search, copying and screen readers. The look-alikes remain different characters even when a sighted reader recognizes the word. Essential information, account handles and links work better in regular text.
