How to use it
- Load the source picture or transparent artwork you want to turn into an emoji.
- Use a close Fill crop or Fit with transparent padding to keep the silhouette.
- Save the 128 × 128 PNG and check the reported size.
- Upload it in Discord, give it a memorable name and inspect it in chat.
Design for a tiny result
A custom emoji must communicate at chat size, so begin with a simple expression, object or symbol. The 128 × 128 canvas gives you a compact square export to work with. Fine outlines, long words and busy backgrounds can disappear when displayed beside a message. Inspect the saved image at its actual size instead of judging it only in an enlarged editing preview.
Keep the silhouette clear
Crop around the part of the source that expresses the reaction. For a face, leave enough room to recognize the eyes and mouth without including an entire scene. For an illustrated mark, preserve its full outline. If the image already has transparency, PNG output keeps it; Fit with transparent padding can add extra space around the artwork without introducing a colored rectangle.
Respect the upload weight
Discord requires custom emoji files below 256 KB. This preset checks that threshold after export and shows a warning if the saved PNG is still too large. PNG does not have the same adjustable quality control as JPEG. A simpler source with fewer tiny details can reduce the output size while also making the emoji easier to recognize in a conversation.
Name and upload the emoji in Discord
Use your server’s emoji settings or the available emoji upload controls to select the PNG. Discord requires an emoji name with at least two characters using letters, numbers or underscores. Choose a name members can remember and type. Upload permissions belong to the server: creating the file here does not give you permission to add it to someone else’s community.
Prepare animation separately
Discord supports animated custom emoji, but this resizer produces one static PNG. If your original is a moving image, the downloaded result will not carry its sequence of frames. Prepare a separate animated file when motion is part of the joke or expression. A still version can still be useful as a companion, especially when members need a reaction that reads immediately.
Try the result in a real message
After uploading, test the emoji beside ordinary text and as a standalone reaction. A design can look clear on a white editor background and disappear against a dark chat theme. Check both bright and dark surroundings, and revise the original outline or contrast if needed. Keep the source artwork so you can make that revision without enlarging the tiny PNG export.
